Dear BAMf Podcast: Episode 18 with Jackie Wasilczyk

Building a Strong Relationship with Your Media Relations Agency

Dear BAMf // Episode 18: Jackie Wasilczyk of Primary Venture Partners talks about the COVID puppy boom of 2020, how to forge relationships with media, and how off-brand sponsorships affect a company's reputation.

In this week's episode of the Dear BAMf podcast, we speak with Jackie Wasilczyk, Director of Brand + Communications at Primary Venture Partners. Jackie is a marketing professional with extensive experience producing B2C and B2B quality digital content and experiences. In this episode, Jackie answers a question that a lot of PR and marketing professionals are dealing with right now: how do I launch a product during a pandemic?!

Dear BAMf,

How can we build a pipeline and interest for our direct-to-consumer brand launch for our pet-focused product? Now amid COVID, as you probably know, there is a puppy explosion happening in the U.S. and our team doesn't want to wait for "things to get better" as we're going to be in this pandemic for awhile.

Listen now to hear how Jackie advises this writer to move forward with a product launch in uncertain times.

Dear BAMf: Episode 18

Episode 18 highlights:

  • (01:00) Jackie gives some helpful tips on atypical preparation for a product launch. These practices include creating a landing page waitlist where consumers can pre-order, partner with influencers, and create sampling effects where your target market propagate.
  • (07:42) You don't have any press news to give media, so what do you do? Spend time creating long lasting relationships with reporters, follow reporters on Twitter, and establish yourself as a resource.
  • (13:34) How to spot off-brand sponsorships and proceed accordingly. Ask yourself, "Is the sponsorship personality at odds with your brands values? How severe is the action of the individual?" Double down on what your brand is doing well and bring attention to it.
