Remote Work Chronicles: Whitney Wells

BAM's Lessons from Dandapani: Unveiling the Power of Purpose

Like most companies across the United States, BAM went fully remote in March of 2020 due to the coronavirus pandemic. As a result, work has looked a little different for us this year. BAM made sure to equip team members with the necessary office equipment needed to make at remote work…work. But in true BAMf form, our team members took it a step further building out some pretty inspiring, functional, and productive spaces to get their work done each day until we can be together in our offices again in the future.

We’re kicking off a series that will take you inside our team’s work-from-home spaces. In this series, our team shares their unique takes on must-haves, working style, and productivity hacks. Today we’re starting with Whitney Wells, an account director who has been with BAM for nearly 5 years and was remote before the pandemic struck. Whitney is our veteran remote team member, so she has lots of wisdom to share.

Q: Tell us about your WFH space?

I’m lucky to have an office with doors in our house, a first for me in my WFH experience. I previously worked out of our master bedroom with a built-in desk in a closet. This feels like a big upgrade. The space also doubles as a workout and meditation space that my husband and I share as well.

Q: What’s your favorite part of your WFH space?

I really like the natural light in this space, which keeps me energized throughout the day and makes me look better on Zoom!

Q: What’s your best WFH advice?

Take breaks after big tasks or back-to-back meetings to do something that makes you laugh or smile. I go check on my two kiddos and hear about how their day is going, which keeps me happy and driven to work even harder.

I put together a to-do list every morning with my goals for the day, organized by client, and I also unload my home or outside of work to-dos there as well. It helps to jot everything down to free up mental space. Bring your whole self to everything you do. You’re not work and home you, you’re just you.

Q: What is a must-have for you?

Beverages, and lots of them. I always have at least three different drinks on my desk, and I even have a special oriental rug coaster that can fit them all. Coffee? Check. Water? Check. Sparkling water? Yes, please!
