Natel Energy

Based in Alameda, California, Natel Energy is a  provider of low head hydro power systems. Since its founding in 2005, Natel has been awarded funding by the United States Department of Energy and Small Business Innovation Research Program to support commercialization of its technology, the hydroEngine.

THE CHALLENGE

Natel wanted to build more awareness of their brand through media relations. In the first 6-months of the campaign, the CEO struggled with bandwidth constraints brought on by policy focuses.

Natel came to BAM in 2020 ready to build brand awareness and change the public perception of hydropower.

THE SOLUTION

With the bandwidth constraints, BAM’s approach was centered on generating timely topics by identifying trends within the energy industry, while simultaneously recognizing possible newsworthy opportunities such as project launches, or partnerships. BAM built relationships with key industry leaders on behalf of Natel in addition to leading sustainability reporters, which generated feature placements and trade media opportunities.

BAM supported the growth of Natel’s media footprint through trade and top-tier coverage that focused on the innovative technology, and role of hydropower in sustainability and energy of the future. Additionally, BAM grew the company's CEO executive presence through podcast and thought leadership opportunities to position her as a leading force in the hydropower, and more broadly, the renewable energy and conservation space.
